For those of you who are enjoying the comic so far and just want a little more art to look over between updates, I think I should let you know that my deviantART account has a bunch of sketches from Shizentai, some sneak peek Communication Confusion goodies, poetry, photography, ceramics and ink paintings as well. So head on over and check it out if you get the chance.


Also, I know most of you reading this don't live in New Orleans, but for the few who may be in town on December 12, 14 or 15, I would like to ask a favor for a matter that is very close to my heart. The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana has put together a volunteer event to plant trees and spruce up the grounds of the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, which suffered considerable damage due to hurricane Katrina. Having spent the weekends of more than seven years of my young life as an education and animal care volunteer at the nature center, it is my home away from home, and the main reason I am a biologist today.

So if you can spare an hour or two on one these days to help out planting some trees and eating free food, please join us and don't forget to visit the official site to get more information and REGISTER so that they can estimate the turnout.

As an added incentive, I have decided to give free comic swag to all Shizentai readers who show up to volunteer. So if you come, I'll be the skinny long brown hair girl with the Walter Anderson field bag.

My sister is the brown-dressed Amish woman in the front right, My mom is the black-veiled zombie behind her, I'm the scrawny undead ninja smack in the center of everyone, and my friend Hillary is the 80s zombie in the pink tutu near the gate. This was waaaaaaaay too much fun... I'm worried that Christmas 09 is going to pale in comparison.
